WATERLOO – Audrey T. Murphy, 76, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Allen Hospital.

She was born Dec. 2, 1936, near LaPorte City, daughter of Andrew and Beatrice Schares Weiden. She married Francis J. Murphy on Aug. 1, 1956, in Waterloo.

Mrs. Murphy worked as a bookkeeper for the Waterloo Water Works for 19 years, retiring in 1999. She also worked at Black’s Sky Room for many years.

Survived by her husband; five sons: Jeffrey of Waterloo, Paul (Kate) of Freeport, Ill., Roger (Debbie) of Grimes, Gary (Denise) of La Porte City and Jason (JoAnn) of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Corrine (Dan) True of Blue Grass and Carol Murphy of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and three sisters, Wilma (Leo) Brustkern and Barbara Oberhauser both of LaPorte City and Mary Anne Weber of Des Moines.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. Legion of Mary rosary and a 7 p.m. parish rosary. Visitation also for an hour preceding services Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Parkinson’s research or the Alzheimer’s Association.
