WATERLOO - LeRoy H. Burk, 90, of Waterloo, died Thursday April 27, 2006, at Ridgeway Place.

He was born Jan. 27, 1916, in Black Hawk County, son of George and Thresa Burk. He married Ella K. Cox on Oct. 10, 1938, in Blue Earth, Minn. She died Sept. 21, 1983.

Mr. Burk was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in the Philippines. He had worked for John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for more than 45 years.

Survivors include two sons, LeRoy of Bemidji, Minn., and Harold (Shawn) of Evansdale; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond of Waterloo; and four sisters: Irene Henry, Dorothy Bloom, Fonda Mae Stitt and Mariam Einfelt, all of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by three brothers: Clyde, Harry and an infant; and three sisters, Gladys Goersch, Marie Warneka and Florence Burk.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Kearns Huisman Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation 2 to 5 p.m. today at the chapel. Military rites will be conducted by Becker Chapman American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623.
