CEDAR FALLS- Brian Harper, 80, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Iowa Falls, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at his home.

He was born June 4, 1929 in New Castle, England, son of Rowland G. and Anne M. (McGlaughlin) Harper. He married Mary L. Ewalt-Maggert on July 10, 1993 in Parkersburg.

Mr. Harper attended the University of Durham, where he received a Chemist degree. He began his employment with Iowa Falls Recycling in 1986 as the Technological Director.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Janet and Sein Harper, both of the UK; two step-sons, Gary Ewalt of Waverly, and Barry (Kari) Ewalt of Lee Summit, MO; a granddaughter, whom they raised, Shana (Jeremy) Bergmann of Sumner; and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Harper.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens in Cedar Falls. There will be no visitation. Richardson Funeral Home (266-3525) is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Cedar Bend Human Society.
