Florenz Julius Lentsch, 80, of Waterloo, died Saturday Nov. 24, 2007, at Country View Care Center of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 24, 1927 in Havana, North Dakota, son of John A. and Clara M. Janish Lentsch.

He married June Beran McChane on May 11, 1957, in Waterloo. She died Aug. 19, 2006. He served in the United States Army with the 187th paratrooper division during the Korean War. As a young man Ole farmed in Day County South Dakota. He worked a short time at the Rath Packing Co and then as an engineer with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works until he retired in 1985. He was a member of the Veteran Of Foreign Wars and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his daughter Kathy Graham of Waterloo; a grandson David (Anne) Graham, Waterloo; a grandaughter, Katie Graham of Louisville, Kentucky; a great grandson, Dawson Graham of Waterloo; four brothers: Herbert W. (May) Lentsch of Waterloo, Peter (Loretta) Lentsch of Brownton, Mn., John M. (Karen) Lentsch of Veblen, S.D., Alfred (Sharon) Lentsch of Manchester, N.H.; six sisters: Phil Dolney of Blooming Prairie, MN, Mary (Harold) Flemming of Kinde, MI, Margaret Block of Desert Hot Sprints, CA, Ann (Rudy) Ettlin of Webster, MN, Victoria Sheetz of Pheonix, AZ, and Julie (David) Olson of Stillwater, MN; a brother-in-law Al Kadrlik of MN and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Agnes Kadrlik and Dorothy (Leonard) Rumpza; a brother in infancy; a brother-in-law Andy Dolney.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday November 28 2007 at St. Edward Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery Waterloo. Full military rites will be conducted at the grave by the American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m.Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street where there will be a 5 p.m. rosary followed by a sharing time and a hour before services at the church.
