Funeral services for Oscar C. Slade, 83, pioneer Waterloo resident, were Tuesday in Reedville, Ore., it was learned here Thursday. Mr. Slade died last Friday in Reedville of complications of advanced age.

He was born in Waterloo Dec. 26, 1867, the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. V. R Slade. His father was a member of the firm, Slade & Gindt, a furniture store in Waterloo.

As a young man, Mr. Slade entered an insurance office here and moved to Sioux City, Iowa, and Chicago, to be with the company. He was with the same company for 50 years. Since about seven years ago, Mr. Slade had made his home with his brother, Loren Slade at Reedville. He had been in ill health during that time.

Mr. Slade was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Deal Slade.

His sole survivor is his brother.

Burial was in Sellwood, Ore.
