CEDAR FALLS — Shirley Bruns, 80, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Windhaven Assisted Living Center, Cedar Falls.

She was born April 15, 1933, daughter of Ernest and Louise Zink Mueller, in Scotland, S.D. She married Richard “Dick” A. Bruns on March 15, 1953, in Waverly. He preceded her in death Feb. 24, 2013.

Mrs. Bruns graduated from Waverly High School and attended Wartburg College, Waverly. She was employed as a chaplain assistant in Fort Sill, Okla., while her husband was in the military and later was a bookkeeper at Midway Bank, Cedar Falls. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church.

Survived by two sons, Jeff (DeAnne) and Joe (Lisa), both of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Julie Bruns of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty (Jim) Borgen of Minneapolis.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Corrine Pankow and Marilyn Winkey; and two infant brothers.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, and also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Nazareth Lutheran Church, Western Home Communities or Christian Crusaders.
