HUDSON - Mildred K. Halupnick, 88, of Hudson, died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 13, 1924, in rural Tama County, daughter of Fred and Emma Benda Cizek. She married Alfred "Fritz" Halupnick Sept. 5, 1944, at St. Vaclav Catholic Church, Clutier. He died June 12, 2004.

Mrs. Halupnick graduated from Traer High School. She did housework for area families and farmed with her husband near Hudson. After his death she remained on the farm. She was a former member of Blessing Church in rural Hudson and currently was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel, Eagle Center.

Survived by three sons: Dwayne (Peggy Herman), Steve (Vicky) and Craig (Robin Akers), all of Hudson; two daughters, Jeanette (Darrel) Pedersen of Hudson and Bonnie (Randy) Schumacher of Aurora, Ill.; two sisters, Pauline Reinberg and Margie Severin, both of Keystone; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers: Carl and Fred, and a brother in infancy; and two sisters, Dorothy Popelka and Lucille Harrington.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of Mount Carmel, Eagle Center, with burial in Blessing Cemetery, rural Hudson. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Overton Funeral Home, Traer. Condolences may be left at ww.overtonservice.com.

She enjoyed gardening and cooking and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed volunteering at Harmony House in Waterloo.
