Shirley Kay Heiple, 68, of Waterloo died Saturday Nov. 10, 2007, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home following a brief illness with cancer.

She was born Aug. 10, 1939 at Toledo, Iowa, daughter of Hollis and Marcella Jans Mason. She married David T. Heiple on May 29, 1959 in Waterloo. He died July 5, 2005.

She graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1957. She was employed as a secretary for the Waterloo Police Dept. and also with the Public Employees Credit Union. Shirley is loved by many. Her intelligent wit and generosity will be remembered by all. She shared her love of gardening with many friends and family. Plants and flowers from her garden have been planted all across the United States by family and friends. Hostas in Minnesota DayLillies in Colorado and Iris in South Carolina. Most of Shirleys co-workers and friends will miss her fine cooking skills. Many wonderful times were shared over the years at Shirleys table.

Survivors include a son David Heiple Jr. of Waterloo; a daughter, Lisa Heiple- Robb of Boulder CO; two sisters, Jolaine (Jerome) Freese of Baxter, Ia., and Geraldine Mason of Robbinsdale, Minn, and her beloved dog Abby.

Preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Mary and Angelia Heiple; a sister, Carol ; and beloved dog Fanci.

Candlelight Services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street with private burial in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until service time on Wednesday. Friends and family will gather at the Waterloo Amvets on Lafayette St. to share memories and to celebrate Shirleys life following the Candlelight service.
