WATERLOO — Charles "Chuck" Frederick Werner Jr., 56, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 21, 1946, in Waterloo, son of Charles Frederick Sr. and Zona Wollenberg Wilcox Werner. He married Connie Stroh Aug. 3, 1968, in Council Bluffs, and they later divorced.

A graduate of West High School, Mr. Werner received his bachelor of arts degree from St. Olaf College in Minnesota and served in the US. Navy stateside during the Vietnam War. He worked as a salesman and owned his own businesses.

Survived by a son, Charles "Charlie" Frederick HI of Waterloo; two daughters, Kristin (Brian) Hill of Des Moines and Libby Boileau of Waterloo; a granddaughter; and a sister, Kathryn (Tom) Purdon of Tucson, Ariz.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A memorial fund has been established.
