WATERLOO — Charles E. Bruns, 84, of Waterloo, died at home Monday, April 29, 2013.

He was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Waverly, son of Louis and Cecelia Gisler Bruns. He married Patricia Doyle on Dec. 27, 1950, in Waterloo, and they later divorced.

Mr. Bruns was a 1947 graduate of Our Lady of Victory Academy and served in the U.S. Army Combat Engineers during the Korean conflict. He was employed as a scheduler with Weyerhaeuser Paper Co.

Survived by: two daughters, Marie (Mike) Lien and Katie (Bruce) Anderson, both of Waterloo; two grandsons, Colin (Liz) Lien of League City, Texas, and Will Anderson of Waterloo; a brother, Steve of Hudson; a sister, Ann Niedert of Dallas; and a special friend, Bev Kirby of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a grandson, Nevin Lien; two brothers, Jerome and Joseph; and a sister, LaVonne Welsh.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with entombment at Mount Olivet Mausoleum. Full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with a 4 p.m. Legion of Mary rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
