James M. Thomas, 44, of 914 Gilbert St., died Friday, Nov. 27, 1992, at home of primary pulmonary hypertension.

He was born Aug. 2, 1948, in Mason City, son of John and Colleen Devine Thomas. He was a graduate of Newman High School, Mason City, and received a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Loyola University Chicago, in 1971.

He married Loma Kapler on July 15, 1978, in Waterloo. He was director of Advocator Welfare Answering Service for 18 years and had been employed with Legal Services Corp. of Iowa since January 1991.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Caine and Luke, both at home; a daughter, Claire Thomas, at home; his mother of Mason City; a sister, Jonette Smith of Council Bluffs; and a brother, Timothy of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today at Oppold-Hagarty Funeral Home, where there will be a 3 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service, both today.
