Private graveside services for Hortense Elizabeth Kurth, 91, of Richmond, Texas, formerly of Waterloo, will be Saturday at Mount Olivet Cemetery. She died of natural causes Oct. 20, 1988, in Richmond.

She was born Nov. 6, 1896, in Weeping Water, Neb., daughter of Edwin and Elizabeth Carroll Shepherdson. She married Dr. John E. Kurth in 1920 in Omaha. He died in 1967. She was a charter member of St. Edward's Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Robert J. Kurth of Fulshear, Texas, and Dr. Donald E. Kurth of Fredericksburg, Texas; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
