Marion E. Rankin, 83, of Northwood, formerly of 4246 Logan Ave., [Waterloo], died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 1994, at North Iowa Mercy Medical Center, Mason City, of cancer

He was born July 8, 1911, in Lawn Hill, son of Henry E and Rose Johnson Rankin. He married Beatrice Irene Darrah on April 6, 1932, in Waterloo; she died in 1968 He then married Nita Coyour on Oct. 5, 1968, in Galena, Ill. She died in 1991.

Mr. Rankin was employed by Deere & Co. in plant layout for 40 years, retiring in 1972. He was a U.S Army veteran of World War II.

Local survivors include a niece, Irma Wedeking of Plainfield; and a nephew, Everett Johnson of Waterloo

Preceded in death by a sister, Fern Warren.

Memorial services 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Kearns Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with inurnment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted. There will be no visitation.

Memorials directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Salvation Army.
