CEDAR FALLS — Doyle J. Kono, 62, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born Aug. 29, 1950, in Oelwein, son of Bob and Rita Loban. He married Joyce Ohrt on April 28, 1973, at First Baptist Church, Oelwein.

Survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Heather (Dustin) Brase of Ames; two sons, Matthew (Staci) of Walker and Jonathan (Keri) of Fairbank; five grandchildren: Tyler and Taylor Brase, Nick Tritle, and Isaac and Emily Kono.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel in Waterloo, with burial in Fairbank Cemetery, Fairbank. Public visitation for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Doyle’s family for a memorial fund to benefit the dialysis unit at Covenant Medical Center.
