Raymond James Smith, 57, of Sacramento, California, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 1994, at UCD Medical Center, Sacramento, of natural causes

He was born July 16, 1937, in Waterloo, son of Herbert A. and Marian Hunn Smith. He was employed for Frontier Tours in Sacramento and KWWL Television in Waterloo

Survived by his mother and stepfather, Marian and Hans Rau of Ackley; a daughter, Valerie Smith of Quincy, Ill.; and a brother, Herbert of Fullsom Calif.

Preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Ronald.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ackley, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Waterloo. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Brandt=Fritz Funeral Home, Ackley.
