WATERLOO — Dale Doughty, 64, of Waterloo, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic, Iowa City, from complications due to pneumonia, leukemia and rheumatoid arthritis.

He was born March 18, 1949, in Fort Dodge, son of Cleo and Dolores Doughty. He and his wife, Mary, were married March 6, 2010, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

Mr. Doughty attended Fort Dodge schools until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1967. After receiving an honorable discharge, he worked for the Illinois Central Railroad, presently the Canadian National, until he had to stop for health reasons.

Survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Curt Doughty of Fort Dodge and Chad Fellers Doughty of Chicago; his parents of Fort Dodge; three grandsons, Curtis Jr., Tanner and Mason, all of Fort Dodge; a sister, Kathy Doughty of Cedar Falls; a brother, Dave (Stephanie Lacina) of Fort Dodge; and Ernie, his black lab.

Preceded in death by a son, Bryan.

Celebration of Life service: 11 a.m. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, where family will greet friends starting at 9:30 a.m.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Dale’s many hobbies included hunting, fishing, mushrooming, spending time with family and rooting for the Cubs. He loved the outdoors and lived on the bank of the Cedar River until 2008 when his home was destroyed by the devastating flood. He will be missed by all who knew him.
