Henry was born July 29, 1909, in Aplington, Iowa, the son of John and Dena (Conraads) Van Lengen.

On March 17, 1932, he was united in marriage to Maggie Perton. She died January 10, 1973. He then married Alice M. Ravn January 8, 1979 in Cedar Falls. She died April 4, 1993. He farmed in rural Waterloo, between Waterloo and Cedar Falls for over fifty years, retiring in 1970.

Survived be his daughter, Dena (Robert) Wray of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren, Debra (Mike) Carlo and Mark (Susan) Wray, both of Cedar Falls, and Barb Strom of Waterloo; great grandchildren, Michael Adams of Cedar Rapids, and Jeff Carlo, Nicole (Mark) Strassburg, Brett and Emily Wray, all of Cedar Falls; great-great grandson, Logan Strassburg of Cedar Falls; brother, John Van Lengen of Janesville; and sisters, Jennie Folkers of Cedar Falls, Hannah Hartgrave of Austin, MN, and Grace (Paul) Knapp of Shell Rock.

Henry died Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; sisters, Dorothy (Luchtenburg) Ridder and Fannie Kroeze; and brothers, Albert, Ben, George, and Paul.
