CEDAR FALLS — Raymond N. Kane, 87, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Fairbank, died at home Friday, April 12.

He was born July 21, 1925, in Oran, son of John and Frances Fettkether Kane. He married Beverly J. Gallup on March 13, 1947, in Cedar Rapids. She died Oct. 10, 2002.

Mr. Kane graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy, Fairbank, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Prior to retirement, he farmed and did carpentry work. He was active in Fairbank American Legion Post 0552, Farm Bureau of Buchanan County, Immaculate Conception Church in Fairbank and volunteered as a 4-H leader.

Survived by four daughters: Judith Rae (James) Wolf of Binghamton, N.Y., Deborah (Richard) Wood of Petersburg, Texas, Pamela Schmitt of Cedar Falls and Kimberly (Eugene) Lemoine of Manassas, Va.; two sons, Kent (Ina) of Junction City, Kan., and Kevin of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Emmett (Mary Jane) of Independence.

Preceded in death by four brothers: Louis, Harold, Jack and Paul; and four sisters: Beatrice McCloud, Sister Eunice Kane PBVM, Peg Robinson and Sister Clarice Kane PBVM.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors provided by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 Honor Guard. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Service, with a 6:30 p.m. rosary. Visitation also an hour before services Monday at the church.
