Benjamin Franklin Anderson, 93, passed away September 25, 2007. Ben was born April 22, 1914, to Burt Albert Anderson and Loellen Hotchkiss Anderson in Tama, Iowa. He attended schools in Iowa and Minnesota. Ben was confirmed on March 17, 1940, at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, Minnesota by Pastor Siguard T. Sornson.

Ben served in World War II with the U.S. HDQ Company Army Ground Forces, Armored Division, with extensive duty in the Pacific Theater, including Okinawa and Iwo Jima. He was awarded the ASIAAIC Pacific Theater Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

Ben also spent time as a civilian construction worker at U.S. Air Force Base in Thule and Sanderstrem, Greenland. He worked at Wilson & Company in Albert Lea, Minnesota for many years. He and his wife also owned and operated several restaurants in Albert Lea. Both he and his wife were active in the Salvation Army. Ben was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years attaining the 32nd Scottish Degree. On November 19, 2000 at the age of 86, Ben attained membership as a Shriner. For the past 25 years Ben had lived in California.

Ben married Cora E. Tasker on February 14, 1935 in Northwood, Iowa. They had six children. Cora preceded him in death in 1978. Also preceding him were his parents, four sisters, two sons, John and Gary Anderson.

He married Helen Roberts on February 2, 2000. She died May 28, 2006 at the age of 99.

Ben is survived by four children, Barbara Brundige of Springfield, Illinois, Julie A. Nelson of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Dale R. Anderson of Guyman, Oklahoma and Jay M. Anderson of Albert Lea, Minnesota; two sisters, Mary Frodin of Maustin, Wisconsin and Betty Sime of Madison, Wisconsin. There are ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Memorial Servies 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2007 at Richardson Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
