Grace Smith

Grace was born October 15, 1921, in Austinville, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Sophie (Mayfield) Griffith.

On March 16, 1943, she was united in marriage to Jacob G. Smith in New York, NY. He died June 11, 1987. She was employed as a cook at the Barn in Dike, then the Cupboard and later King Food Host and finally Sartori Memorial Hospital, all in Cedar Falls.

She is survived by two sons, Charles E. (Peggy) Smith of Waterloo and Gene G. (Hitomi) Smith of Seattle, WA; daughter, Charlene (Robert) Kressley of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Drusilla Richtsmeier of West Bend, WI, Charlotte (Howard) Rogers of Cedar Falls, Gladys Norte of Waterloo and Erma Weatherwax of Vinton and brother, Charles (Jean) Griffith of Polson, Montana.

Grace died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center in Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant son, Jacob Gilbert Smith Jr.
