WATSON, PARKER, LONG, BEST, KIMBERLIN, LAURENCE, PEDERSEN, ACCOLA

CEDAR FALLS- Herbert H. Watson, 94, of Cedar Falls died Monday, December 15, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

He was born October 20, 1914 in Superior, the son of Reverend Bertie M. and Mary J. (Parker) Watson. He married Byrna C. Long on August 15, 1941 in Sioux City. She died in 1972. He then married Marlene Best on November 9, 1974 in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Watson graduated from Central High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Morningside College. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He had been employed with the US Postal Service before and after the war and the Internal Revenue Service until his retirement in 1974. He then was a realtor with Krause Reality and later was employed with Cedar Falls Savings and Loan as an appraiser and investment counselor.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene of Cedar Falls; two sons, Bert (Linda) Watson of Dewitt and Brian Watson of Sugarland, TX; a daughter, Byrna Kimberlin of Sells, AZ; a step-son, Randy (Mary) Best of Lakeville, MN; two step-daughters, Karen (Tad) Laurence of Lansing, KS, and Marilyn Best of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Sarah Watson and Herb Kimberlin; and six step-grandchildren, Michael and Ryan Best and Hal, Heather, David and Emily Laurence.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and George Watson and two sisters, Jessie Accola and Eleanor Pedersen.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls, with burial 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation for one hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.
