DIKE- Edward Bangert Ericksen, 93, of the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, formerly of Dike, died Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Lutheran Home.

He was born August 8, 1917 in Cedar Falls, the son of Chris and Eva Bangert Ericksen. He married Dorothy E. Crowell on June 4, 1941 in Cedar Falls.

He graduated from Teachers College High School (NUHS) and attended one year at Iowa State Teachers College (UNI). He farmed in rural Cedar Falls and Dike.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a son, Steven E. Ericksen; two daughters, Mary (John) McCarter and Margaret Nielsen, all of Dike; twelve grandchildren; and thirty-three great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a son in infancy, Charles E. Ericksen; two sisters, Rosemary Ericksen and Margaret Ross; a son-in-law, Timothy Nielsen; and a grandson, Adam Joseph Nielsen.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Cedar Falls, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Richardson Funeral Home, where there will be a 6 p.m. public Masonic service conducted by Honor Lodge #646 AF& AM. Visitation also for one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church, Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, or Cedar Valley Hospice.
