Services for Jake T. Henkle, 76, of Waterloo, will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. He died of an apparent heart attack Friday at the Evansdale AMVETS Hall.

He was born May 22, 1906, at Benton County, son of Oscar and Matilda Rivenstahl Henkle. He married Mary Ruth Hay Feb. 12,
1929, at Vinton. He began farming in the Waterloo area in 1927 and continued until 1968. He also worked in the livestock station at Rath Packing Co. from 1940 until 1968. After he retired, he worked for five years as a security guard at the Black Hawk County Health Center. Most recently, he was a security guard at the National Guard Armory in Waterloo.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters: Mrs. Frances VanGorder of Independence, Mrs. Zelda Dinnebier of Waterloo, Mrs. Mary DeVoogd of Cedar Falls and Evelyn Henkle of Waterloo; five sons: Albert of Fairbank, Charles J. and Ivan, both of Waterloo, and Richard and Edward, both of Evansdale; 36 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, George of Waverly; and three sisters: Mrs. Minnie Detrick of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Elsie Sturtz of Marengo and Mrs. Bessie Steffeny of Waterloo.

Friends may call at Carter-Oppold 0'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home beginning at noon Sunday, where there will be a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may be given to the Kidney Care Unit at St. Francis Hospital.
