Dr. Jack C. Buchanan, 74, of Ocala, Fin., formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 1990, at Aluchua General Hospital, Gainesville, Fla., of natural causes.

He was born July 9, !916, in Waterloo, son of Thomas and Mary Crowl Buchanan. He married Wilma Yukl.

He received his Degree of Optometry from the University of Southern California in 1941 and joined Buchanan Optical Co., which his father had formed in downtown Waterloo in 1910. He took over his father's practice in 1950 and retired m 1983, when he moved to Florida. He served as an officer in the U.S. Medical Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mark of Omaha. Neb., and Paul of Key West, Fla.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: and two brothers, Thomas of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Don of Galesville. Md.

Roberts Funeral Home, Ocala, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial services will be at a later date in Waterloo.
