Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Parrott and Wood Funeral Home for Mrs. Mary Ann Carpenter, 89, who died at her home, 1704 Burten Avenue, about 11:45 p.m. Friday of complications of a broken hip.

The Rev. Austin Plew, pastor of the Burton Avenue Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Vernon Township Cemetery.

Mrs. Carpenter was born January 22, 1872, in Pennsylvania, the daughter of George and Anna Fencile Albright. She was married to John W. Carpenter on February 15, 1893, in Dows, Iowa

The couple lived in Dows until 1895 when they moved to Black Hawk County to farm here. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of Burton Avenue Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Roy, of Niles, Ohio, a daughter, Mrs. Ross Habenicht, 1704 Burton Avenue; two sisters, Mrs. Burt Bartholomew, Dunkerton, and Mrs. A. J. Henry, Route 2, a brother, Clarence Albright, Route 1, Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sons.
