Jacob "Jakie" Stickfort, 77, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Windsor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Cedar Falls.

He was born February 28, 1928 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Jacob W. and Fannie (Itzen) Stickfort. Jakie married Shirley Rivers on May 28, 1949 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua, Iowa. He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict and worked for 27 years at Clay Equipment Company in Cedar Falls. Jakie also was a carpenter, and built several homes in Cedar Falls and the surrounding area.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Stickfort, of Cedar Falls; a son, Larry Stickfort of Waterloo; three daughters: Judy (Kirk) Pierce of Cedar Falls, Cindy (James) Curd of Oelwein, Iowa and Grace Stickfort of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren: Danny “Buck” Davis (Misti McDermott), Amy Davis (Dave Goodwin), Duke Plumley, Patrick Plumley and Michael Stickfort; a great-grandson, Danny Davis III; two brothers, Raymond (Henrietta) Stickfort of Cedar Falls and LaVerne Stickfort of Waterloo; a sister, Vonna Mae Eischeid of Palmdale, California; and his step-mother, Florence “Grandma” Stickfort of Waterloo.

Jakie was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Margaret Stickfort, who died in infancy.

Funeral services were 1:30 pm Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with interment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Waterloo VFW Post 1623.
