CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Charles W. Whitney, 79, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, December 1, 2006, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home

He was born October 8, 1927, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the son of Walter C. and Aurelia Mae Dixon Whitney. He married Patricia Ann Chambers in March 1950 in Waterloo. She died March 7, 2000.

Mr. Whitney graduated from Waterloo East High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was an electrician and worked for IPS in Waterloo, retiring in 1977. He then went to work for the Department of Energy at the Boulder City Dam in Boulder City, Nevada.

Survivors include a son, James (Karla) of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Janet (Randy) Green of Waterloo and Ann (Dan) Shaner of Cedar Falls; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Richard Yanda.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with visitation for an hour before. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo, with military honors by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Cancer Treatment Center on Ridgeway Avenue in Waterloo.
