READLYN — Delores Mae Leistikow, 77, of Princeton, formerly of Waterloo, Readlyn and Tripoli, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Trinity Hospital, Bettendorf.

She was born Sept. 10, 1935, in Fredericksburg, daughter of Edwin J. and Gladys Biermann Zander. She married Elroy C. Leistikow on June 6, 1954, in Waverly. He died June 29, 2001.

Mrs. Leistikow owned and operated “Delores’ Flowers” in Tripoli for a number of years. She then attended UNI receiving her undergraduate and master’s degree in education. She then taught elementary and special needs at the Vinton Community Schools for 17 years.

Survived by two daughters, Deborah (Leroy Lechtenberg) Leistikow of Princeton and Angela (Stanley) Holt of Lake Delhi; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Judy) Zander of Charles City; and a sister, Mary (Ray) Bloem of Fredericka.

Preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Leistikow.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, Denver, with burial in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Readlyn. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and an hour before services Saturday, all at the church. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements.
