Stuart A. Longseth, 68, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, November 24, 2006, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.
He was born October 9, 1938 in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Violet (Glew) Longseth. Stuart married Mary Lou Doddema on November 17, 1959 at Fredsville Lutheran Church near Dike, Iowa. She preceded him in death on January 6, 2002. Stuart served with the US Army during the Vietnam Era and was an Iowa State Trooper for fifteen years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Dike American Legion Post 471, Dike United Methodist Church and the Iowa Sate Woodcarvers Association.
Survivors include his daughter, Pam (Kevin) Heath, of Waterloo, and two brothers, Neil (Mary) Longseth of Urbandale, Iowa and Lynn (Jacqueline) Longseth of St. Louis, Missouri.
Stuart was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a brother, Kenneth Longseth.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at Dike United Methodist Church, with interment at Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. Military honors will be conducted by Dike American Legion Post 471 along with the Iowa State Patrol. Visitation will be 4—8:00 pm Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, and one hour before the service at the church. A memorial fund will be established.
