WATERLOO — Bertha Lousia Gibbons, 99, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, April 10, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born Dec. 16, 1913, in Stamford, Neb., daughter of Phillip J. and Josephine Kass Thoma. She married Donald Gibbons on April 11, 1939, in Orleans, Neb. He died Dec. 19, 2009.

Survived by a daughter, Patricia Jones of New Melle, Mo.; a brother, Joseph (Lorraine) Thoma of Fort Collins, Colo.; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Thoma of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by five brothers: Leander (Augusta), John (Betty), Clyde, Roland and Nestor (Emma) Thoma; and three sisters: Sister Josephine Thoma, Margaret (Les) Simmons and Sara Thoma.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with a 4 p.m. rosary followed by a time of sharing. Visitation also an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to St. Edward’s Catholic Church.
