WATERLOO — Joseph Lester Fangman, 82, of Waterloo, died Sunday, April 7, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born May 26, 1930, in Dyersville, son of Joseph L. and Agnes Friedman Fangman. He married Dorothy Weber on Nov. 13, 1951, in Waterloo.
Mr. Fangman graduated from St. Mary’s High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. He worked in the dry sausage department at Rath Meat Packing plant for 37 years. He also was a volunteer at St. Vincent dePaul Society for 52 years.
Survived by: his wife; two sons, Darryl (Sue) of Dewar and Duane (Liz) of Plano, Texas; two daughters, Darlyne Yagla of Waterloo and Doris Lunde of Plano; nine grandchildren; a brother, Marvin (Carol) of Waverly; and a sister, Mary Lou (Jim) Shonka of Independence.
Preceded in death by: two brothers, LeRoy (Betty) and Bob (LaVerne); two sisters, Kathleen (Bob) Aunspach and Lois (Jack) Baldwin; and a son-in-law, John Lunde.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street (note change in location), with a 4 p.m. parish and St. Vincent dePaul rosary. Visitation also an hour before services Thursday at the church.
