OSAGE, IOWA — Mildred Lashbrook, 94, of Osage, died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society in St. Ansgar, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the United Church of Christ in Osage, with the Rev. Duane A. Lookingbill and the Rev. Steven J. Lashbrook officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Mildred Lashbrook, age 94, of Osage, died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society in St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the United Church of Christ in Osage with the Rev. Duane A. Lookingbill and Rev. Steven J. Lashbrook officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Millie was born September 8, 1918, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Soren and Anne (Christensen) Jorgensen. The family moved to a farm near Riceville. She later lived with foster parents, John and Alma Maxwell. Millie graduated from Riceville High School in 1935, and taught rural school near Saratoga for four years.

On August 18, 1940, she married Kenneth E. Lashbrook in Riceville. They made their home in Osage. From 1944 to 1946, they lived on the Farragut Navy Base in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho while Kenneth was serving in the U.S. Navy. Millie was a member of the United Church of Christ and the U.C.C. Women’s Fellowship. She was also a member of bridge club, Shakespearean Club, and was a Cub Scout leader. Millie was a voracious reader and regular visitor to the Osage Public Library.

Millie is survived by one daughter, Ann (Ed) Latham of Duncombe; two sons, Kenneth G. (Marcia) Lashbrook of Cedar Rapids, Rev. Steven J. (Laurie) Lashbrook of Akron, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Kenneth in 2008; a granddaughter, Kelly Ann Pilcher; and two brothers, Gordon and Marvin Jorgensen.
