Funeral services for Mrs. Velda Niedert Forney, 76, of the Parkview Gardens Home, who died there at 1:05 p.m. Monday of complications of age will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. S. M. Schreitmueller, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Forney had been a resident of Parkview Gardens for the past two years.

Velda Grace Macumber was born Nov. 6, 1892, the daughter of James Henry and Sarah Wells Macumber at Beamar. She was married to Edward Niedert in 1909. He died in Feb. 1935. She later was married to John Forney on Oct. 5, at Independence, and he preceded her in death in September of 1958. She was a member of the first Lutheran Church, Daughters of the union Veterans, Golden Agers and the Senior Citizens.

Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Jack Elgas of Rt. 4, Independence, Mrs. Harold A. Olsen of Minneapolis, Minn., and Miss Louise Niedert of 1020 W. 3rd Street; three sons: Henry J. Niedert of 1100 Bishop Avenue, Fred Niedert of Rt. 3 and James Niedert of 105 Roseland Drive; two stepsons, Kyle Forney and John E. Forney of South Dakota; three stepdaughters: Mrs. Harold Livingston of Rt. 1, Cedar Falls, Mrs. Frank Kudelka of Sunnyside, California, and Mrs. Emery Rietz of Fort Pierre, S.D.; 19 grandchildren, 21 step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 18 step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one daughter, two brothers, one stepson and two stepdaughters.

Services for Mrs. Velda Niedert Forney, 76, of the Parkview Gardens Home, will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. wayne Stumme, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call at Oppold Funeral Home until 11:30 a.m. Thursday, when the body will be taken to the church.

Mrs. Forney died Monday of complications of age. She had been a resident of Parkview Gardens for the past two years.
