HUDSON - Lori Ann Lewis Hardin, 31, of Coleville, Calif., formerly of Hudson, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at her residence in California of injuries sustained in a propane explosion.
She was born Aug. 15, 1980, in Waterloo, daughter of Robert and Capi Messer Lewis. She married Greg Hardin July 19, 2003.
She graduated from high school in Hudson in 1999. She studied elementary education and early childhood development at UNI, graduating in 2003, and received a master's degree from Drury University. Mrs. Hardin was an on-line professor for Ashford University, and attended Ascension Lutheran Church in Waterloo.
Survived by her husband; two sons, Brady and Ashton, both of Coleville, Calif.; her parents of Hudson; a brother, Kalen (Leanne) Lewis of McCausland; two sisters, Brenda Cooper of Dike and Tami (Keith) Wallace of Flowery Branch, Ga.; her maternal grandmother, Janet Sawyer of Hudson; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Morran Lewis and Margaret Lewis Tehel; and her maternal grandfathers, Warren Messer and Warren Sawyer.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Ascension Lutheran Church, Waterloo, with private family burial at a later date. Public visitation from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, Waterloo.
Memorials may be directed to the Brady and Ashton Hardin Education Fund, Veridian Credit Union.
Lori loved her family deeply. A very passionate and kind person, Lori wanted the very best for her children. She enjoyed snowboarding, travel and personal fitness. Lori kept family first during Greg's three deployments and shared her sons' activities with family through various forms of technology. During Greg's most recent deployment, Lori lived with her parents in Hudson.
