WATERLOO - Derrick Lee Galle, 15, of Waterloo, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home after fighting a hard battle with cancer, surrounded by many family members and friends.

He was born Aug. 8, 1993, in Waterloo, son of Dan and Heather Beier Galle. He was a ninth-grade student at Valley Lutheran School.

Survived by his parents of Waterloo; a sister, Megan Galle of Waterloo; maternal grandparents, Steve and Patricia Fox of Waterloo; maternal great-grandmother, Rose Beier of Waterloo; paternal grandparents, Rande and Sandra Galle of New Hartford; and paternal great-grandfather, Merlyn L. Galle of Denver, Iowa.

Preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Duane Beier; maternal great-grandfather, La Verne Beier; maternal great-grandparents, Lawrence and Radah Corwin; and paternal great-grandmother, Helen Galle.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Children's Tumor Foundation.
