WILLIAM CHAPPLE LAID TO REST

The remains of William Chappie who died in Boston, Mass., last Saturday morning, arrived in LaPorte this morning and funeral services were conducted there today. The service were in charge of the members of the G. A. R. Post.

BOSTON, MASS, Aug 20 - William Chapple, Sr., aged 75, formerly of LaPorte City, Ia., and for many years prominent in Grand Army circles in the west, is dead. He was the father of the naval militia of Wisconsin and commander of the Grand Army post at Ashland, Wis.

Note: Gravestone at Westview Cemetery, La Porte City, Iowa shows he was born in 1835.
Married to Louisa Mitchell at Chariton, Iowa, October 1, 1866. Lousia died in 1901.
They had five children: Joseph Mitchell, Lulu, William Henry, John C. and Bennett.
