WATERLOO - Karl David Dewey, 33, of Denver, Colo., formerly of Waterloo, died at home July 14, 2005.

qHe was born Oct. 17, 1971, in Lexington, Neb., son of Keith and Wini Dewey. He married Katrina "Katie" Daly on Dec. 18, 1999, in Dubuque.

Mr. Dewey attended grade school in Lincoln, Neb., and Kittrell and Kingsley elementary schools in Waterloo. He was a Boy Scout and wrestled in intermediate school at Hoover. Before graduating in 1990, he was a member of the Honor Club, International Club and the Octagon Club at West High School. In addition to his school-related activities, he also kept busy with music and youth programs at First Baptist Church, helping restore his family's older home and working as a tow truck driver at Jim Lind Standard. He also loved biking and rode in RAGBRAI two years.

Following his graduation from West, he enrolled at Iowa State University, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi and served as house treasurer. Mr. Dewey also worked as a waiter at Wallabys restaurant and ran an information research business, Infotech, with longtime friend, Noah Young. He graduated with a degree in business MIS in 2000.

After receiving his degree, he was hired by Revere Consulting and Headhunter.com in Chicago. In 2002, he joined Hitachi Consulting in Chicago, was then moved to Paris, France, and later to Denver, Colo., where he was employed at the time of his death. He had always admired Colorados beauty, and spent many hours riding his motorcycle and hiking with his dog in the mountains. He left many friends in Waterloo, Ames, Chicago, Paris and Denver.

Survivors include his wife; his parents; a brother, John of Johnston; a sister, Pam of Brooklyn, N.Y.; maternal grandfather, Paul Johnson of Concordia, Kan.; his mother and father-in-law, Karen Daly and Jack Daly, a sister-in-law, Molly Rose, and a brother-in-law, Tom, all of Dubuque; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Guy and Irene Dewey, and Inez Dewey; and maternal grandmother, Faith Johnson.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home and for an hour before services.
