WATERLOO - Charles Edward Todd, 83, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls, of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Brook, Ind., son of Clifford and Ethel Carbaugh Todd. He married Margel Knittel on Aug. 2, 1944, in Santa Ana, Calif. She died in March 1997.

Mr. Todd joined the U.S. Marine Corps for 27 years, serving during World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War, retiring in 1969. He then became a carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 15 years.

Survivors include two sons, William (Patty) of Lindenhurst, Ill., and Douglas of Las Vegas; a daughter, Cheryl (Michael) Wheaton of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Carolyn) of North Fort Myers, Fla.

Preceded in death by a son, Gary; and a sister, Dorothy Bisig.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Eternal Hills Mortuary, with burial in Eternal Hills Memorial Park, both in Oceanside, Calif. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street is in charge of arrangements.
