GILBERTVILLE - Services for Roman H. Fischels, 64, of 715 17th Ave., will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mr. Fischels died Friday at Covenant Medical Center at Kimball Ave.

Rosary services will be 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. today, and a Scripture service will be 8 p.m today, both at the Oppold Funeral Home, Waterloo, where friends may call anytime.

He was born April 24, 1922, in Gilbertville, son of Nicholas and Barbara Bovy Fischels. He married Bernadette Weber Thome Oct. 25, 1954, in Gilbertville. He farmed all of his life in the Gilbertville area and retired in 1983.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Lynn of La Porte City and Dean of Elk Run Heights, four daughters: Nancy Rooff and Jeanette Hoppes, both of Waterloo, Shirley Welter of rural La Porte City and Marlene Nosbisch of Wichita, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four brothers: William, Ray and Nick, all of Gilbertville, and Kenny of rural Jesup; and a sister, Sally Schmit of Gilbertville.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Leo.

Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice, Don Bosco High School or Immaculate Conception Church.
