WATERLOO - Edward J. Scheffert, 78, of Waterloo, died at home Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, of natural causes.

He was born April 10, 1929, in Elkader, son of Joseph and Evelyn Hinzman Scheffert. He married Shirley Dausewer on Nov. 27, 1948, at Sacred Heart Church in Waterloo.

Mr. Scheffert was employed as a meat cutter.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Terry (Sandie) of Waterloo; a daughter, Wendy Dugan of Davenport; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Don (Pat) of Guttenberg.

Preceded in death by a son, Randy.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with inurnment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
