EVANSDALE — Thomas F. Fitzpatrick, 68, of Evansdale, died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids.

He was born Jan. 25, 1945, in Waterloo, son of James and Leona Chettinger Fitzpatrick. He married Sherrill Busby on March 26, 1973, in Waterloo.

He was part of the first graduating class of Columbus High School. He worked as a maintenance mechanic with John Deere for 30 years, retiring in May 1994.

Survived by his wife; a son, Jeffrey Graves of Evansdale; two grandchildren, Tabitha (Jeremy) Juhl and Zachary Graves; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Chelsey Juhl; a brother, William (Mary) of Waterloo; a sister-in-law, Melena Fitzpatrick of Itasca, Ill.; a brother-in-law Ronald Holmlund of Denver; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a son, Jack Graves; a brother, Martin; two sisters, Kathryn (Leo) Saul, and his twin sister, Geraldine Holmlund.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with burial in Poyner Township Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Tom loved his family and grandchildren and his passion was racing his stock car, No. 5 F, in the Waterloo area for more than 30 years.
