CEDAR FALLS — Robert L. Madsen, 92, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at NewAldaya Lifescapes.

He was born March 31, 1920, in Cedar Falls, son of Louis and Florence Lawrence Madsen. He married Claudia D. McFarland on Jan. 15, 1943, in Waterloo. She died Oct. 18, 2004.

Mr. Madsen was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed at Viking Pump Co. for 46 years, and for much of that time was the controller, retiring in 1985 as executive vice president. He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls.

Survived by three sons: David B. (Marcia) of Des Moines, Daniel B. (Anne) of Mounds View, Minn., and Charles D. (Rachel) of Spring Valley, Minn.; a daughter, Barbara S. Madsen of Yakima, Wash.; three grandchildren, Shannon Madsen, Jared Madsen and Sarah Vale; two great-grandchildren, Katie Madsen and Olivia Vale; a sister, Sally Madsen; nieces and nephews, Marty Eagleson, Jenny Lantz, Anneka Madsen, Mike McFarland and Chris Koshman; and a foster son, Hua Ngo.

Preceded in death by two grandsons, Ryan and Donovan Madsen; and a sister, Helen Nance.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Full military honors will be provided by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.

Memorials: may be directed to the church, Salvation Army or Cottage Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church in Des Moines.

Bob was a frequent donor to the blood bank, so a contribution of a pint would honor him too.
