WATERLOO — Irene A. Niemeyer, 98, of Friendship Village, Waterloo, died there Saturday, March 2, 2013.

She was born Sept. 18, 1914, near Aredale, daughter of Rudolph and Anna Hock Mundt. She married Donald D. Niemeyer on June 2, 1940, in Waverly. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Niemeyer and her husband lived in Cornell and Eau Claire, Wis. until 1989 when they moved to Friendship Village, Waterloo.

Survived by a son, John (Laurel) of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Jeff (Katie) Niemeyer of Austin, Texas, and Carol (Tim) Kalafut of Fayetteville, Ga.; and four great-grandchildren: Emily and Bennett Niemeyer and Spencer and Ellie Kalafut.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley and Malvin Mundt; two sisters, Dorothy Roever and Leona Haase; and a daughter, Mary.

Memorial services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity American Lutheran Church, with inurnment at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Waverly. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
