CEDAR FALLS — Ronald “Ron” Kuhlman, 72, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, March 11, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, following complications from a stroke.

He was born Nov. 1, 1940, in Hubbard, son of Ervin and Leora McDonald Kuhlman. He married Barbara Purvis on June 15, 1963, in Iowa Falls.

Mr. Kuhlman earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Northern Iowa. He taught at Southeast Polk and Kirkwood College, served as personnel director for the city of Cedar Rapids and Hawkeye Community College, and taught ACT/SAT test preparation classes for Zaps Learning Co.

Survived by his wife; three sons: Greg (Julie) of Robins, Brian (Rebecca) of Waterloo and Ken (Diane) of Marion; a daughter, Julie (Mike) Agey of Norwalk; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois (Bob) Petersen of Chaska, Minn.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Church of Christ, Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials in lieu of flowers, may be directed to the music program at United Church of Christ, 9204 University Ave, Cedar Falls 50613.

Ron enjoyed spending time with family, fishing and singing in the church choir. Ron and Barb celebrated their 50th anniversary early with a trip to the ancestral Kuhlman farm in Germany last October.
