WATERLOO — Merida Dennis, 85, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Allen Hospital.

He was born May 12, 1927, in Fisher, Ark., son of Claude and Annabelle Purcel Dennis.

Mr. Dennis worked for many years as a machinist at John Deere.

Survived by a sister, Madie Lily Lockard of Eagan, Minn.; three nephews, Douglas, Chris and Dennis; two nieces, Patricia Ann and Sherrill; and special friends, Peggy, Bobbie and Marva.

Preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Katheryn Roberts; and two brothers, Charley and Earnest.

There will be no services or visitation. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, An Overton Family Service, is assisting the family.

Merida enjoyed bowling and dancing. He also loved to travel, especially to Hawaii.
