PLAEHN, MCCURDY, EASTMAN, ROGERS, CAVANAUGH

WATERLOO — Ross R. Plaehn, 86, of Waterloo, died at home Saturday, March 2, 2013.

He was born July 5, 1926, in Reinbeck, son of Peter and Edna McCurdy Plaehn. He married Agnes “Mollie” Eastman on Dec. 31, 1947, in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Plaehn was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a casket salesman with Dubuque Casket Co., Ruyle Casket Co. and Toccoa Casket Co., retiring in 1988.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Becky (Tim) Rogers of Wheatridge, Colo., and Marilyn (Larry) Cavanaugh of Waterloo; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Lee and Glenn; and three sisters: Marlys, Jeanette and Mary Plaehn.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with entombment in Mount Olivet Columbarium, where full military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation also an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to St. Edward’s Catholic Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
