LA PORTE CITY — Kevin James Hart, 44, of La Porte City, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning.

He was born July 31, 1968, in Keene, N.H., son of James K. and Elizabeth M. Benedict Hart. He married Kathy Felderman on Oct. 27, 2012, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, La Porte City.

Mr. Hart graduated from Belle Vernon Area High School in Pennsylvania and received his Journeyman Lineman apprenticeship through Northeastern Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee. He worked as a Journeyman Lineman in 48 states and also American Samoa. He currently owned and operated 3C Construction, La Porte City. He served on the trustee board for St. Paul United Methodist Church and was a member of IBEW 126.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Samantha Hart of Belle Vernon, Pa.; two stepsons, Dylan and Aidan Felderman, both at home; his parents of Belle Vernon; a brother, the Rev. Brian (Karen) Hart of West Mifflin, Pa.; two sisters, Denise Hart of Minneapolis and Diane Webster of Donora, Pa.; maternal grandmother, Margaret Benedict of Salem, Mass.; nieces and nephews, Laura Rock, Sara Hart, Nathan Hart, Richard Wright and Amanda Hart; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Howard S. and Iva Dail Hart; and maternal grandfather, Doig Benedict.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today and for an hour before services Wednesday, all at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date. La Porte City Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements

Memorials may be directed to the church or the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Man Dieds in Accidental Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

WATERLOO, Iowa - Police said a La Porte City man who was found unresponsive in a garage over the weekend died of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning.

Authorities were called to the garage in the 1700 block of West Ridgeway Avenue on Saturday and found 44-year-old Kevin James Hart unconscious. He was later pronounced dead.

Capt. Tim Pillack with the Waterloo Police Department said Hart had been working in the garage and using a heater. He said Hart was overcome by carbon monoxide from the heater and was discovered later.
