Norma Mae Apling, 63, of 3405 Bristol Road, died at home Friday, Jan. 10, 1997, of natural causes.

She was born may 11, 1933, in Waterloo, daughter of Ray and Caroline White Irons. She married Louis E. Apling on October 24, 1953.

Survived by her husband; four sons, Louis Jr. of Waterloo, Tom of Washburn, Jonathan and Andrew, both of Waterloo; five daughters, Caroline Irons of Des Moines, Louise Nation of Sumner, Vera Magee of Waterloo, Jennifer Carlson of Castalia and Allene Holm of Mount Auburn; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; her mother of Waterloo; a brother, Wayne Irons of Ankeny; and two sisters, Carol Henderson of Brunswick, GA, and Nancy Mulder of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by two brothers, LeRoy and Allen Irons; and an infant sister, Karen Lynn Irons.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Monday at Kearns-Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Poyner Township Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
