WATERLOO — Marilyn R. Young, 85, of Waterloo, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of pulmonary fibrosis.

She was born Oct. 4, 1927, in Waterloo, daughter of George and Alma Engelking Hertlein. She married Kenneth L. Young on Feb. 14, 1953, in Waterloo. He died Feb. 15, 1977.

Mrs. Young was employed by John Deere & Company, Immanuel Lutheran School, Lindeman & Yagla Law Firm and then C.K. McCrindle Law Firm.

Survived by two sons, Dale G. (Denise) Young of Fowler, Mich., and William D. (Michelle) Young of Lawrence, Kan.; two daughters, Susan L. and Joan D. Young, both of Waterloo; and three grandsons, Michael K. (Laine) Young of Brighton, Mass., Benjamin R. Young of Lawrence, Kan., and Ethan G. Young of Fowler, Mich..

Preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Hertlein.

Private graveside services: were held Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Cedar Bend Humane Society, or Christian Crusaders (Radio Ministry).
