Margaret Anna Baker, 100, died Sunday, February 15, 2004, at the Western Home Communities Stanard Family Assisted Living Center in Cedar Falls.

She was born May 30, 1903 in Washington Township, Iowa, the daughter of John and Hettie (Ford) Morgan.

Margaret married Rodney Baker on June 2, 1928 in Manchester, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1969. Margaret taught piano for 71 years and was a member of the Northeast Area Music Teachers Association. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 70 years, where she taught Sunday School, was a charter member of the Boardman Boosters, played the piano and organ and sang in the choir. Margaret enjoyed knitting and made beautiful quilts for her family and friends.

She is survived by her two sons, Dean Baker of Newton, Iowa and J. Edward Baker of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, Julie (Brian) Kingery of Gresham, Oregon and Chad Baker (fiancée Jana Ware) of West Des Moines, Iowa; three great-grandchildren, Brett, Lauren and Andrew Kingery; and a brother, Paul (Irene) Morgan of Cedar Falls.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband and parents; three sisters, Eva Varco, Irma Baskins and Alice Pattee Pelley and a brother, Roger Morgan.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, with interment at Washington Chapel Cemetery in rural Cedar Falls.

Memorials may be directed to the church, Cedar Valley Hospice or the Western Home Communities.
